The Luseland Harvest Hunt

12 September 2026 · 2:00–4:00 PM

Twelve businesses. Twelve riddles. Twelve pieces of a puzzle, and a fox who decided to settle in Luseland.

The Harvest Festival is the town's day, run by the community. The Chamber's part of it was this: two hours in the afternoon, and a game built around the businesses on Grand Avenue.

How the day went

It started at the Garden Club. Children met Mr. Fox in person, had a photograph taken with him to keep, picked up a map, and watched the first riddle — an animated one, from the fox himself.

Then twelve stops around town. At each one children learned something about the business whose door they were standing at, solved its riddle, and collected the puzzle piece waiting there.

At the end they put the pieces together and built the fox's farm: the farm of a fox who had decided to settle in Luseland and become part of the community. At the final location they voted on his name. The name has been chosen — and it is being kept back as the surprise for Mr. Fox's next adventure, at Santa Claus Day.

Every child went home with treats from Delta Co-op. Then the draw: twelve main prizes, from Lego to puzzle sets, and six Chamber cheques of $25 each, to be spent at businesses here in town.

Twelve stops and twelve riddles

Every stop was a member business. That was the point of the game: a child who finishes it has been inside a dozen local businesses and knows what each one does.

The Garden Club was the first stop and the last: the day started there with Mr. Fox, and ended there at the Chamber booth with the vote, the finished puzzle and the draw.

The completed Harvest Hunt puzzle: Mr. Fox's prairie farm, with a red barn, grain bins, a pumpkin patch and Oddi the tractor
What the twelve pieces build: the fox’s farm 1,200 pieces were hidden across the stops for the children to find.

Who made it happen

Every Chamber member made this possible. A few went further, and their names went on the prizes:

Harvest Hunt prize label: donated by AJ Marketing, with Mr. Fox at a desk of screens and cameras
Harvest Hunt prize label: donated by Delta Co-op, with Mr. Fox in the store aisle
Harvest Hunt prize label: donated by SouthPaw Electric, with Mr. Fox in a hard hat at an electrical panel
Harvest Hunt prize label: donated by Luseland Credit Union, with Mr. Fox holding a member card
Harvest Hunt prize label: donated by GS Stang Farms Inc, with Mr. Fox on a tractor in a wheat field

On the back of every puzzle piece

Two member businesses put an offer on the reverse of the pieces, so the game did not end when the puzzle was finished: a free day at EV Fitness and Nutrition, and a free introductory class at The Champion Collective.

Harvest Festival coupon: a free one-day gym pass at EV Fitness and Nutrition, with a sign-up QR code
Harvest Festival coupon: one free class at Champion Taekwondo, Homecoming Hall, Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 PM for children and 8 PM for adults

Prize donors: AJ Marketing · Delta Co-op · SouthPaw Electric · Luseland Credit Union · GS Stang Farms Inc

Mr. Fox was not built for a single afternoon. He is a permanent character — the Chamber's voice in the community, and for children a reason to pay attention to it. The Harvest Hunt was his first full outing. The next one is a film at Christmas, and that is when he finally gets his name.

Santa Claus Day: Mr. Fox before Christmas

Santa Claus Day belongs to the town. This year the Chamber's part of it is a film: the adventures of Mr. Fox in the days before Christmas, made by the Chamber and shown on the big screen at the Luseland Homecoming Hall, just before the traditional Santa Claus Day movie. And sweets from the Chamber for everyone who comes.

It falls on Saturday 12 December 2026 — the second Saturday of December, which is where Santa Claus Day sits every year.

Mr. Fox is the character who carries one celebration into the next. The children voted on his name at the Harvest Hunt in September; the name has been kept back for this film.

Last year the Chamber ran Santa's Treasure Hunt on the day: clues, riddles and a trail past the businesses, and five children took home LDCC Lego activity packages and Chamber Cash. It is the event the Harvest Hunt, and Mr. Fox, grew out of.

Last year's announcement the winners

Saturday 12 December 2026, Luseland Homecoming Hall. The Mr. Fox film, then the traditional Santa Claus Day movie. Sweets from the Chamber.

The screening time and the rest of Santa Claus Day come from the town and the other groups involved; they land here as they are confirmed.
