Starting out or scaling up

If you have an idea and no idea where to begin, or a business you want to grow — start with a conversation at the Chamber. Everything below is free, open to you today, and the Economic Development Officer will walk you through any of it.

Talk to the EDO Jump to the funding

You do not have to work any of this out alone. Reading a funding page and knowing whether you qualify are two different jobs. The Chamber's Economic Development Officer tracks what is open, helps with the application, and has written support letters for members applying to several of the programs listed here. Ask her first — it is free and it is the whole point of the role.

Grants credits and loans by sector

Provincial and federal programs that a business in this district can actually use, grouped by sector — open the one that fits. Every link goes to the official page, because that is the only version guaranteed to be current. Amounts and deadlines move; the Chamber tracks them so you do not have to.

Start here, whatever you do

Two finders and the province’s own index3 links

Between them these cover everything below, and more. Ten minutes with the first one is the best use of time on this page.

Agriculture and agri-processing

Farms, water, value-added food and processing8 programs

The largest pool of money available in this district, by a distance.

Manufacturing, technology and research

Equipment, investors, R&D and new products6 programs

Mostly tax credits rather than cheques: they reward money you, or an investor, spend here.

Hiring and training staff

Wage subsidies, students and free courses3 programs

Help with the cost of the people, rather than the equipment.

  • Wage subsidy Canada Summer Jobs

Wage subsidies for employers who give young people aged 15 to 30 a summer job. One intake a year, usually over the winter, so watch for it early.

  • Wage subsidy Student Work Placement Program

Wage subsidies, paid through industry partners, for employers who take on a post-secondary student for a work placement.

  • Free training Skills Bridge

Free online courses for your employees from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, open to businesses across Canada. More in the training section below.

  • Gone

One that is gone, so you stop looking for it. The Canada–Saskatchewan Job Grant, which covered two-thirds of employee training costs, was discontinued following a federal cut to labour market transfer funding. Business pages across the web still list it. If you were counting on it, speak to the EDO about what replaced it in your case.

Skills Bridge

An online training platform from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, built with the Future Skills Centre and Magnet and funded by the Government of Canada’s Future Skills program. Despite the name it is not only for Ontario: any small or medium-sized business in Canada, under 500 employees, can register and give its employees courses at no cost. In return the program asks businesses to take part in its evaluation surveys.

  • Management
  • Customer service
  • Sales and marketing
  • Excel, social media and e-commerce
  • Workplace inclusion
  • English and French

Not sure which one? Ask the EDO

The Chamber also runs training here in town when enough members want the same thing — first aid, safety, forklift, marketing, accounting. What is scheduled. If you want something that is not on that list, say so: that is how most of it got there.

Beyond the district

The monthly Chamber meeting is the closest one, and the easiest. It is on the events page. These are the calendars worth watching across Saskatchewan and Canada, grouped by what you would go for.

  • Show · 23–28 Nov 2026 Canadian Western Agribition

Regina. Livestock competitions and a trade show of producers, manufacturers and craftspeople.

  • Show · 16–18 Mar 2027 Canada’s Farm Show

Regina, at REAL District. Equipment, technology and services under one roof.

  • Show · every July Ag in Motion

Western Canada’s outdoor farm expo near Langham: field demonstrations and crop plots.

Selling beyond Saskatchewan

Trade missions and export events1 calendar

Going to one of these? Tell the EDO. The Chamber can sometimes help with registration, travel or a group booking, and it is useful to know which members are in the same room. Get in touch.

Then start with the conversation

This page is long because the support really is out there. It is also why most of it goes unclaimed — nobody reads twenty government pages on a Tuesday evening after a full day's work.

Tell the Economic Development Officer what you are trying to do. She will tell you which three of these are worth your time, and help you apply.

Programs open, close and change their terms. Every link above points at the official page rather than a summary, so what you read is the current version — but if a page has moved or a program has ended, tell us and it gets fixed.

The Chamber does not administer any of these programs and cannot approve an application. What it can do is tell you which ones fit, help you write the thing, and put its name to a support letter.
